Pupusería Rosita
About This Spot
Pulling up to Pupusería Rosita, the first thing you notice is its unpretentious charm tucked into a lively Oakland neighborhood. This casual local eatery operates out of a taco truck, parked thoughtfully on E 17th Street, where the steady hum of orders and friendly chatter fills the air. Whether you’re stopping for a quick bite or settling into the shaded tented seating area nearby, the rhythm here is warm and inviting—unhurried yet buzzing with the kind of community pulse that makes it feel like a neighborhood staple.
Inside this small but spirited space, the service feels both quick and personal—there’s an ease that comes from people who know what they’re doing and genuinely enjoy sharing the flavors of home. Amid the sizzle and fresh preparations, you’ll find yourself drawn into the joy of Salvadoran classics made vibrant: the comforting pull of freshly crafted pupusas, the enticing smells of grilled meats, and the crisp playfulness of fried yucca or sweet plantains. The menu offers a canvas of rich, hearty flavors that invite moments of simple pleasure over shared dishes.
What stands out here is the unhurried joy of discovery—whether you’re diving into the Crazy Pupusa or savoring tacos filled with carne asada or tender grilled shrimp, the food invites you to connect—not just with the ingredients but the place itself. Alongside these dishes, the daily rotation of aguas frescas adds a refreshing, thoughtful detail that rounds out the experience effortlessly.
Pupusería Rosita isn’t just about grabbing a meal; it’s about feeling a thread in the fabric of its community, in the easy conversations shared over plates and the genuine smiles behind the counter. Pupuseria Rosita is one of the best taco truck in Oakland. The service is fast, the people are super nice, and the food is just plain delicious and has tons of flavor. Theres an area to the side with a tent, tables ,and chairs if you want to eat your food then and there. Usually they have 3 flavors of aguas frescas daily so dont miss out on that to go along with your order(last time we ordered a horchata and also their watermelon one). I always order their chicken tacos with everything on it,thats my favorite of theirs

I have updated this because I think they have changed employees who are now much nicer. Service is fast, friendly and orders are well prepared. The tamales and pupusas still bussen. Aguas frescas are the best and the price is unbeatable. In the first review I was hella mad. I have been coming here for over a year. I would have given them 4 stars in the beginning. Their tamales are great and thier pupusas are passable. The rest is a little less then basic. They forget half of my order a lot and I have to drive all the way back to get it with only a sorry. I explained this last time that it has been more than a couple occasions of this happening even though you repeat the order to them in Spanish when you arrive to pick up. They take their time getting it ready and then when you get home it is not all there. They do nothing to try and make it up to you. "Everyone make mistakes she says". Yes my dear, but when you make the same mistake over and over and only offer an I'm sorry and eye rolls then it's not a mistake. This is doing your job with no care. This is not caring about the business you work for. I also ordered enchiladas that were more disgusting than a marie calendar frozen enchilada. I will find another food truck to go to. Will not be going back. They lost a long term customer.

It's a taco truck and it pretty good. I've had the pupusas and the quesadilla, and the tamales. The pupusas and quesadillas were great. Horchata was good too. And it was a pretty good deal too!

As 2023 presses on I continue to try new places to eat. Today I stopped here for some tacos. The parking was fine (due to the fact it was mid day). It's conveniently next to a local liquor store just in case you want additional snacks. I purchased 3 tacos (beef, shrimp and chicken). The shrimp was the best taco though it was 2 dollars more. The only downside to this place is that they don't sell chips and salsa. That's a must for me
